Beginners Wing Chun Classes — Glasgow

INTRODUCTION

Every Wing Chun master was once a beginner. Our beginner classes exist to give you exactly the right foundation — the correct structure, the right thinking, and the habits that will serve your training for years to come. There is nothing to fear and nothing to prove. Everyone in the room was exactly where you are now.

Beginners classes follow the UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Association syllabus — a structured, proven curriculum developed over four decades by Master James Sinclair and taught throughout the UK by qualified instructors. At Wing Chun Scotland, that instructor is Sifu Zubbiar Khaan.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • The fundamental stance (Yee Gee Kim Yeung Ma) — the root of all Wing Chun movement
  • Basic striking — the straight punch, palm strike and correct arm structure
  • The core guard positions: Tan Sao, Fook Sao, Wu Sao
  • Introduction to Siu Nim Tao, the first Wing Chun form
  • The centreline theory — how Wing Chun targets and controls the opponent
  • Basic partner drills — developing coordination, timing and comfort with contact
  • An introduction to Chi Sao (sticking hands) at a beginner level
  • The psychology of real self-defence — awareness, deterrence and response

  • A bottle of water
  • Nothing else — no specialist kit or uniform is needed to start

WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST CLASS

Sifu Zubbiar Khaan will welcome you personally and introduce you to the group. You will begin with a warm-up, then move into structured teaching — starting from stance and the first principles of movement. There is no pressure to keep up. You train at your own pace. Partner work is supervised and controlled; nobody is thrown in at the deep end.

By the end of your first session, you will have a sense of the art’s logic and a few things to practise. By the end of your second, you will start to understand why so many people dedicate years to it.

★  Your first 2 classes are completely free. Book through the contact page or turn up on the night.
